The Craft and the Code

I started writing in notebooks while other kids dreamed of becoming astronauts; I soon discovered paper let me order what life left tangled up. I studied teaching in the late eighties, and ever since my path has been a Tetris of code, web design and teaching, learning that technology only makes sense when it communicates.

Between 2009 and 2010 I directed Black Age Online, an MMORPG where I coordinated an international team across Spain and Latin America and developed its narrative universe on the Unity engine. We reached a technical demo and coverage in the specialized press, but sustaining the infrastructure of a mass online project outpaced our funding and the project was cancelled in late 2010: the difference between having the talent and being able to afford the dream.

I co-founded Caronte Studios and directed the cRPG The Dark Triad: Dragon's Death (2013), a project that had its own Kickstarter campaign and media coverage including, among others, Hobby Consolas, Indie Retro News and DSOGaming. I also passed through editorial trenches such as Nancogame.com (with more than two hundred articles preserved in the Wayback Machine), learning that what survives on the web is not other people's domains, but the accumulated craft.

The Work and the Word

I have been writing since I was twelve. The literary craft accepts no shortcuts: it demands hours in the trenches, failures, constant rewrites, and the certainty that a well-born and honest sentence remains the only reward that never loses value over time.

On an internet before social networks took it over, when the web was lived in forums, blogs and personal sites, I designed and founded the platform Cuento y Poesía (2003–2005). Three years that let me meet many authors, publish them and live with their writing: I learned more about narrative and verse in that open workshop than in years of solitude. It reached hundreds of thousands of visits and closed because I could not sustain it among so many projects; today it only lives in the Wayback Machine, another reminder that what endures is not the domain, but what keeps being written. Those were different times.

I am the author of the La Pandilla Mágica book saga and I have taken part in various literary anthologies sharing pages with storytellers I admire. That relentless search for a voice of one's own, without additives or contrivance, is what drives every page.

The Bed and the Resistance

More than three years ago, a degenerative disease put me in an articulated bed. From one day to the next, my routine, my mobility and my independence were blown to pieces. The outside world shrank to four walls and a constant pain that forced me to rethink everything from scratch.

Because my health worsened, I closed the old iadictodigital.com blog and disconnected from social networks and messaging systems to protect the little energy I had left. My mind isolated itself in silence and was on the verge of giving up. But let's not fool ourselves: curiosity and restlessness woke me from that torpor. Accepting my condition was not optional, so I acted. And here I am, reinventing myself. Again.

Philosophy & Method

The Third Space

I am neither a naive technophile nor a machine renegade. The Third Space is the convergence point where biological intelligence directs and artificial intelligence executes under human control. AI does not replace the creator: it takes on the mechanical, sustains the rhythm, organizes the memory and argues ideas; but the judgment, the voice and the soul are 100% human.

Under this philosophy I have conceived and built the tools that power my projects: the magazine generator IAmanía, the documentary memory CRONOS, the control panel and my publishing editor. Technology gives me the wings to keep creating from my bed; the sensibility, the heart, and the signature are always mine.
